Studio Classes

Spring Term at the Wendy Clouse Painting School begins on January 15th 2018.

There are four classes of 3 hours each and they are held on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Morning class runs from 9.30am - 12.30pm

Afternoon class runs from 1.15pm – 4.15pm

We will be painting in a variety of mediums including acrylics, oils, pen and wash etc.; students spend 30 minutes at the beginning of every class drawing with pencil or charcoal.

Painters of all levels are welcome and the full programme of activities are as follows:

Week 1: January 15th & 16th

We begin our term with an enlarged still life, thinking and talking about composition and developing our painting with the use of our sketch books.

Week 2: January 22nd & 23rd

Working on and completing our still life.

Week 3: January 29th & 30th

Painting winter trees using a large canvas. Please bring a rigger brush if you have one; if not there are several in the studio.

Week 4: February 5th & 6th

Working on and completing our paintings of winter trees.

Week 5: February 12th & 13th

Mastercopy. By popular request, we are each going to make a copy of our favourite master painting. Choose a painting that you very much admire and one that you feel you will learn from. In addition to the practical side of this painting I ask that you learn something from your work, enough for you to give a 3 minute talk to the class about the artist and your particular painting; you are free to use notes to help you. These talks will take place on the second and third weeks of the project.

Week 6: February 19th & 20th

Working on your Mastercopy.

Week 7: February 26th & 27th

Working on and completing your Mastercopy.

Week 8: March 5th & 6th

Perspective. Understanding and making a work that is partially drawn and partially painted. The subjects are buildings, landscapes or still life; we will discuss this topic closer to the time.

Week 9: March 12th & 13th

Working on and completing our Perspective painting.

Week 10: March 19th & 20th

Completing any unfinished work from the term.

The fee for the classes remains unchanged at £25 per class or £250 for the ten week term, payable on or before the 15th/16th January.
